Oiler Instructions

Lane Oiling Instructions

  1. Ensure all lanes being oiled are off, scoring is off, no pins/balls are in the lanes, the rakes aren't down, and the bumpers aren't up
    1. Address any issues before proceeding
  2. Open door to oiler box
  3. Roll the oiler out of the box
  4. Review screen on oiler
    1. If warning is showing, tap to close it
    2. If it is completely blank, one of two things has occurred:
      1. Machine isn't charged
        1. Make sure it is plugged in and turn on the charger using switch above oiler box
      2. Rotate red button on top of oiler until it pops up
        1. This is the emergency stop button and sometimes gets pressed on accident
        2. Screen will start up after rotating it
  5. When screen is showing login form, enter passcode
    1. If you need it and don't know, ask Joel
  6. Check conditioner (a.k.a. oil) temp (bottom right value)
    1. If temperature is red or yellow, tap on Temp Cycle button (middle, left side of screen)
      1. Once the temperature is in the green (>70 degrees), tap on Temp Cycle button to turn off heater
    2. When temperature is green, proceed with next steps
  7. Turn off charger using switch above oiler box
  8. Once charger (white box attached to wall) is no longer showing any display (nothing lit up), unplug the oiler
  9. Using two hands and with hip up against machine, lower machine down
    1. Caution: Machine is very heavy
  10. Ensure pattern is correct
    1. House pattern is currently “OLD BDB V4”
  11. Set starting lane (e.g. “1”), ending lane (e.g. “8”), and current lane (e.g. “1”)
  12. Move the machine to the approach for the starting lane
  13. Check where you set the machine down for any liquid that may have dropped when you lowered the machine
  14. Press button on handle of oiler
  15. Wait until blue screen is shown on oiler screen indicating the machine is ready to be put on the lane
    1. See Appendix A below if you get a message indicating the machine is out of conditioner or cleaner. It is best to fill both the conditioner and cleaner even if only one is out
  16. Line center of oiler up with center lane board
  17. Push machine completely onto the lane
  18. Press button on handle of oiler
  19. Release handle
  20. Machine will now go down and back, cleaning and conditioning the lanes
    1. This takes about 1 minute
    2. If any issues occur during this process, call Joel
  21. Once machine has returned and stopped, grab handle and pull machine off of the lane
    1. “Current” lane will automatically update to next lane, if not on lane 8
  22. Repeat steps 13-19
    1. After running the first two lanes, you have completed the “burn” of the lanes
    2. This ensures conditioner is in the machine so it should be more consistent between lanes
  23. Reset the “Current” lane to the starting lane
  24. Oil all lanes repeating steps 13-20 for each lane
    1. After lane 8 completes, if you need to continue on lane 1, set “Current” lane to “1”
  25. Once all lanes are done being oiled, take the machine off of the last lane and pull it down between lanes 1 and 2
  26. Open the machine up by turning the knob on the top of the machine near the front-side (the side that knocks down the pins), and then pulling up each of the two top (greenish-yellow) pieces.
  27. Remove hose from cleaner tank
  28. Pull cleaner tank straight up
    1. Do not pull at an angle
    2. It is a tight fit so it may be hard to pull up
  29. Take cleaner tank take to bathroom and dump in toilet out of the same hole you removed the hose from in step 26
  30. Put cleaner tank back in machine and reattach hose
  31. With two hands, pick up oiler so it is standing upright
    1. Caution: Machine is very high
    2. Do not pick up too quick to ensure it does not flip over when picking it up
  32. Using a towel (available behind bar under pizza ovens), wipe down machine following directions from sticker on machine including the following:
    1. Cleaner spray nozzles
    2. Squeegee for cleaner vacuum
      1. Apply pressure to rubber mat in angled squeegee to get cleaner out of it
      2. Wipe inside angled squeegee
    3. Wheels on bottom of machine
    4. Conditioner spray nozzles
    5. Apply pressure to rubber mat below the spray nozzles
      1. This is the most likely place that extra liquid will come out
  33. Clean up any liquid that may have dropped off of the machine when you cleaned it
  34. Return machine to the oiler box
  35. Plug machine back in
  36. Flip switch to turn charger back on
  37. Once the charger has started and it is pulling amps (shown on the charger), close the oiler box
  38. Congratulations! You oiled the lanes!
